Starling is designed for people with sensitive skin and allergies who want quality products that will keep them safe and looking great. We take the worry and stress out of finding clean, effective skincare. Learn more about our mission and all the ways in which we are different (and by different we mean better) than the competition:
We've removed irritating and dangerous toxins. Often chemically based ingredients can be the cause of skin reactions and irritations. There is sufficient data on what chemical compounds may cause either sensitivity or an allergic reaction if used in skincare. So – we decided to eliminate them. We also didn't want to include ingredients that were known to be suspicious or harmful to your health. We eliminated those too. You can see our full chemical and harmful ingredient exclusions below. We make it simply. The true standard of allergen-free skincare that we hold ourselves to every day is to use as few ingredients as possible to achieve the results we need for allergenic and sensitive skin. Why is this? Because if you have a reaction, it is known to be easier to deduct the ingredient causing you trouble. There are many companies that throw everything but the kitchen sink into their formulas and then say more is more. We think sensitive and allergenic skin needs to be handled, well, sensitively. Gently. We choose naturally occuring or naturally derived ingredients that are effective at tackling sensitive skincare needs. What you won't find in our line? Aggressive exfoliants, alcohols, retinoids, harsh detergents to name a few. We create products that make the skin barrier healthy and happy.
We use ingredients you can understand and aren't suspected of potential cross-contamination. We use simple ingredient names on our labels and ensure you'll always see the full origin of the ingredient. For instance vitamin e is many times derived from soy. We've heard loud and clear from our customers that this is often a pain point for them because ingredient labels do not specify origin most of the time. Wherever this can be an issue, we state clearly in our product pages and on our labels what the source of the ingredient is. We strive to make this as easy for you as we can. We know having allergies or sensitivities is a ton of work when finding new skincare.
We use organic ingredients wherever we can. We believe organic matters to your health. Your skin is your body's largest organ – that alone was a driving force. Then as we did research we found organic ingredients are proven to work better – they contain more actives and are by nature more pure. Sure, we could go for the less expensive non-organic versions like the competition, but we decided it wasn't true to our mission of creating the best clean and safe product. We know we're giving you so much more for your money. There are MANY expensive brands out there that never use organic ingredients. We NEEDED to be better than that.
Lastly, our products are hand made and made to order. Why? We're kind of control freaks and we want your purchase to be as perfect as possible. We love our customers and it's so important they're happy! Also, because of our product line's natural composition, we felt we had to go the extra mile and give you the freshest products possible. Why is that important? We don't use chemical preservatives. We only use natural preservatives. Making our products by hand and to order ensures you get the longest shelf life for your purchase as possible. It also gives us the chance to skip the chemicals. When you get your Starling products, we recommend you store them in a cool and dry place.
